Poppa* met Daniel at the Neal Unit in Amarillo, TX around 2009 or so. We were both housed in O wing. Daniel introduced himself as "Polar Bear".
Daniel was born on January 31, 1959.
Poppa* wrote Mr. Murray when I got out of P in 2012. On 12-19-12, Daniel wrote a short letter...
"Bill,
Thank you for the card and the kind wishes. May I return the same wishes back to you and your family.
My letter is not planned to be long, because I'm in a most embarrassing position here. I'll blame it on my age. Are you the Bill who used to spank my rear in the game of chess? if you are, then I got you right. If you're not, then I'm at a loss of words and need some help with my memory.
Please write me back and inform me one way or the other.

Mr. Murray is from the Northeast and is looking forward to returning there once he is released...
Well, since then, Poppa* and Polar Bear have exchanged quite a few letters and notes. Polar Bear is very much pro prison reform. He has given me many ideas and suggestions. He, himself, has plans to make himself get involved with prison reform. He wants to make presentations to younger adults using his prison property, showing them the type of life that can await them if they choose crime.
As of January 07, 2017, Dan is in the Robertson Unit's Faith Base Dorm. God is so FAITHFUL! He reports that he has seen a lot of positive changes in the favor of the inmates at Robertson. "What it shows me is that of is working to make change in the Texas prison systems." (His words.) When we have God on our side, no one can harm us.

On January 07, 2017, Dan writes, "I continue to work in vocation as a clerk. I enjoy this time as it gives me a chance to help others. I also enrolled in Nations University working on a Master's degree in Religious Studies. I just started.
I'm proud of you and your efforts in the Foundation. Keep up the great work God has you doing. I keep you in my prayers and please do the same for me.
